GOOGLE UPDATE AFFECTS WEB BUSINESS.

Shortly after the recent Google update last month many web publishers and internet-based businesses have complained of lost earnings as a result of alterations to the infamous Google ranking algorithm, PageRank(tm). "Almost immediately we observed a decline in traffic and a noticeable reduction in revenue over the previous week.

Our internal figures show we could see this months revenue fall as much as 24% - for us the update is extremely serious." Will Spencer In order to provide relevant and up-to-date results Google periodically updates content in its database by 'crawling' the web.

This process refers to Google visiting and storing an offline copy of more than 10 billion sites around the world. In the last update however Google has made changes to the way it ranks sites, in particular to the PageRank(tm) algorithm, which for many businesses at least has lead to their products and services appearing much lower in search engine results.

The end result? are small firms really loosing out to those business whom can outsource their search engine optimization? Is Google trying to force businesses use their Adwords advertising so as to secure a top 10 placement?
